vinternals Launches the Best Award Ever

Dwight Schrute

Whenever I’m about to do something, I think “would an idiot do that?” and if they would, I do not do that thing. –Dwight Schrute

In the spirit of the immortal Dwight Shrute, Stu from vinternals has started the vIdiot Program. Here’s Stu’s description of the award:
So we here at vinternals have taken it upon ourselves once again to be the Yin to VMware’s Yang, and commenced nominations for the inaugural vIdiot award. The nomination process itself is pretty straight forward. Simply find a dumbarse quote from someone who is among the un-enlightened, and forward it along with a link to the source.

Stu’s brilliant idea stemmed from the VMware announcement of the vExpert Program and spirited award campaigning circulating the blogosphere. I’m a big fan of Stu’s site, so he’s already got my vExpert vote. I’m planning to nominate several folks actually, because a lot of guys I cross paths with are well-deserving of the recognition.

Love it? Hate it? Irregardless Regardless, it’s nice to get a good laugh once in awhile. Thanks vinternals for getting us off to a good start in 2009.

Note: Shortly after my original post, a reader named Dwight commented that irregardless isn’t a word and offered his nomination of me as a vIdiot. In my defense, the Firefox spell check had no problem with it and at least the word was listed in the Merriam-Webster dictionary… with the caveat that the most frequently repeated remark about it is there is no such word.

Well done, Dwight. Well done.

Go ahead, Andrew. Pile on! Here’s the root of my problem – I won the spelling bee in the fourth grade. With regards to spelling and grammar, I peaked way too early in life. It’s been all downhill from there!
